Sharing Grace - Cainhoy Firefighters

On February 11th 2025, decades-long Rotarians Grace and Phil Wellman were traveling along I-95 from their home in Virginia to visit their children in Florida when their RV collided with a suddenly-stopped vehicle in Florence County, SC. Although Phil survived, Grace passed at the scene. While their children traveled to the motel he was placed, his daughter called the Florence West Rotary Club in hope someone could check on her father. Club President, David Boulware, responded and asked how he could support Phil after this tragic loss. Although he was only asked for a phone charger and food for his surviving dogs, the Club banded together, providing comfort and home-cooked meals until his children arrived.

Grace was known for her compassion for her community. In her honor, Boulware and his club members provided heart-healthy snacks for the first-responders and challenged Clubs of Rotary District 7770 to continue "Sharing Grace" with our local heroes.

Our Club has accepted this challenge and along our Nation's memory of September, chosen to support Cainhoy firefighters. If you would like to contribute in supplying Stations, you can Venmo our President, Marion Harris, with the memo "Sharing Grace" or hand-deliver cash or checks at one of our upcoming events.
